Yes sir, that Pokemon needs to know the "Fly" ability or be taught it through a device called an HM. Really a giant headache to get your hands on, it involves much more traveling by foot anyway.

If you have a very big Pokemon, you can ride it to wherever you'd like! I have a friend who let me borrow his Arcanine to get somewhere. --ah, that means you can borrow them too from friends, but you should be sure to give them back!

Hmm, at least big enough to carry a fully grown person. My friend's Arcanine is very big. At least six feet tall! So he can carry a person just fine.

If you're a Breeder, I'd say go with a Pokémon that knows fly!

I'm afraid I am not a breeder, nor am I in possession of the HM needed to teach either of my capable pokemon the skill.

I was told it would be an arduous process and rather counterproductive to pursue that approach.
